Staples: last week of school supplies freebies

Staples has 3 instant freebies this week: 12-pk erasers (limit 2 per customer), pencil sharpeners (limit 2 per customer), pocket folders (limit 10 per customer). No tax charged in MD, so 14 items per person are 100% FREE :)

Victoria's folders always get messy after a while so it was nice to pick up some extras for free. Our Staples had 7 colors to choose from.

Staples - free pencils, rulers and pencil sharpener

Speaking of school supplies, I thought I'd mention that Staples has 8-pk #2 pencils and 12" plastic rulers FREE (limit 2 per customer) this week. We also got a battery operated Slimline pencil sharpener: it's on sale for $10 this week and has a rebate for $10 pre-paid Visa card. You can submit the rebate online, so essentially you just pay tax for this cute, powerful and useful gadget :)

Other hot Back-to-School deals this week at Staples are plastic binders for $.25 each, assorted folders that are advertised for $.20 each but scanned $.05 yesterday (I'm not complaining! :)) and sturdy plastic pencil boxes for $.50 (these are great not just for pencils! we use a lot of these around the house)

School supplies: money maker @Office Depot (in-store)

Starting Sunday, August 3rd, Office Depot is having 10-pk Paper Mate pens on sale for $.25/pack; there's a printable coupon for $1 off any 2 PaperMate products here (you can print 2 coupons per PC). There are a few other penny deals advertized (pencil sharpeners, pencil cases, rulers, folders, crayons), so (hopefully) you'll be able to apply the overage towards some other school supplies that you might need. And, on top of that PaperMate contributes some %% to your Upromise account (they base it on pre-coupon price)! If you are not registered with Upromise, you might want to consider doing so (it's free!) and they help you save for college, by putting some %% of stuff you buy into your special college savings account - it doesn't cost you anything more than you pay in the store for the products you buy (and they don't care if you used coupons - as long as you pay with your registered credit card or scan your store loyalty card /for grocery stores and pharmacies/ you'll get what you're entitled to). It may be pennies, but they add up: my CVS shopping alone helped put aside over $20 into Upromise account! I hope the amount grows by the time my girls start college. :)

Readers digest online store discounts

Just received this in my email: Shop the RDstore Cookbook SALE & get an additional 15% off! Enter COOK4ME at checkout through 8-31-08. Some of their cookbooks are 80% off!
They also have free shipping on $40+ orders with code JULY08FS through 8/15/31 and a Back-to-School sale going on.

I'm thinking about getting this Atlas of the World for DD1 as she's been learning about different countries and cultures over the past few weeks and she asks questions all the time. Looks like a good book and a good deal at 64% off (was $24.95, now $8.99)

And this also looks like something she'd enjoy - Oxford First Encyclopedia- at 42% off... (was $22.99, now $12.49) Now, should I just get these two, or get my order over $40 so I could get free shipping?..

Target: Back-to-School deal alert - FREE pens!

Target has BIC pens on sale this week for $.50, and there's a printable coupon for $1 off any 2 BIC stationery products here, making two packages of pens FREE! There are also bonus packs that include 2 free pens (so you're getting 12 pens for the price of 10), that are also on sale for $.50. I printed 2 coupons and got 4 packs (48 pens total!) free. There was a ton of them left in my store, but my oldest daughter is in the second grade, so there are more pensils than pens on her school supplies list. I'm planning to keep one package (that's plenty for us!) and donate the other three to her school.
