I'm thinking about getting this Atlas of the World for DD1 as she's been learning about different countries and cultures over the past few weeks and she asks questions all the time. Looks like a good book and a good deal at 64% off (was $24.95, now $8.99)

And this also looks like something she'd enjoy - Oxford First Encyclopedia- at 42% off... (was $22.99, now $12.49) Now, should I just get these two, or get my order over $40 so I could get free shipping?..

More CVS shopping (week 7/13-7/19)

It looks I will be going back to CVS yet one more time: I have only made one photobook and it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r because of the couple in front of me - I spent almost an hour just waiting :(
Most of the other weekly deals are sold out in our store, so my actual 'shopping' took about 5 minutes... I did notice that 8-ct Lipreve was 75% off (originally $14.99, now $3.59) and that's a monthly deal earning $3 ECBs, so I got that as well even though I didn't plan to.

This is what I got in 2 transactions tonight:

Transaction #1:
- Brita filters 3-pk. (orig. $21.99, on sale for $14.99, gives $5ECB)
- Taster's choice to go (orig. $1, on sale for $.49)
- 2 x Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish (orig. $2.79, on sale for $.99); had a coupon for $3 off 2
- Neutrogena Healthy Volume mascara (orig. $7.99, on sale for $5.99 + gives $4ECB); had a $1 coupon from
- Colgate toothbrush $.99 (from the travel section); used the $1 off any Colgate toothbrush CRT received earlier this week
- Lipreve 8 ct (orig. $14.99, on clearance for $3.59)
Also used $3/$15; paid with ECBs and under $1 out of pocket, earned $5 ECBs for Brita + $4 ECB for Neutrogena + $3 ECB for Lipreve = $12 ECBs to spend!

- Photobook 6x8 (orig. $12.99, on sale for $7.99, gives $7.99ECB); had a $3 coupon from the paper; it beeped but cashier was nice enough to push it through
-2 x Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polish (orig. $2.79, on sale for $.99); had a coupon for $3 off 2
- Neutrogena Healthy Volume mascara (orig. $7.99, on sale for $5.99 + gives $4ECB); had a $1 coupon from
- Lipreve 8 ct (orig. $14.99, on clearance for $3.59)
-3 x PaperMate pencils 10-pk (orig. $1.69 ea, on sale 3 for $1)
- LifeFitness patch (orig. $1.99); had CRT for $3 off ANY LifeFitness product, that I got earlier this week
- Excedrin Back and Body 24 ct ($4.69, counts towards Benefiber deal that I don't think I'll do); had $2 coupon from the paper and will send the receipt and UPC for MIR that was in the recent paper
Also used $3/$15; paid with ECBs and under $1 out of pocket, earned $7.99 ECBs Photo Book + $4 ECB for Neutrogena + $3 ECB for Lipreve = $14.99 ECBs to spend!

Target: Back-to-School deal alert - FREE pens!

Target has BIC pens on sale this week for $.50, and there's a printable coupon for $1 off any 2 BIC stationery products here, making two packages of pens FREE! There are also bonus packs that include 2 free pens (so you're getting 12 pens for the price of 10), that are also on sale for $.50. I printed 2 coupons and got 4 packs (48 pens total!) free. There was a ton of them left in my store, but my oldest daughter is in the second grade, so there are more pensils than pens on her school supplies list. I'm planning to keep one package (that's plenty for us!) and donate the other three to her school.

Free samples -- feminine protection

I have been getting lots of samples in the mail lately, so I thought I'd pass the links along - for those who haven't taken advantage of them yet. I already posted the links for baby stuff (just got UnderJams from Pampers, PullUps & CleanTeam samples from WalMart, Juicy Juice sippy cup, coupons from Huggies and Luvs welcome pack) and also a whole bunch of feminine protection samples. Here are the links to get your own:
  • Tampax Pearl sample (this is offered by StartSampling, so if you are not a member yet, you may consider joining - they have quite a few samples available at all times);
  • OB tampons & carrying case (comes with 3 tampons, cute little purse pack and a $1 coupon)
  • Kotex sample pack (comes with 1 pad, 1 liner, 2 tampons and a $1 coupon)
  • Always pads (upper right corner "Click here for free sample); if you have a teenaged daughter, you may also want to check out - they offer very nice sample packages from time to time (not sure if one is available right now, but the one I got contained 4 pads - 2 of each regular and nighttime, 4 liners, 2 tampons and a coupon for a FREE Always product)
  • Playtex Sport tampons (come with a $1 coupon as well)
  • Playtex Gentle Glide tampons (+ $1 coupon)

CVS shopping - 7/13-7/19

I haven't selected my pictures for the photo books (you can get up to 3 per ExtraCare card FREE after ECB), so I will be going back this week, but knowing how fast all the deals sell out in our closest store, I decided to stop by today anyway.

Here's what I got:

  • Charmin UltraStrong (that's our favorite TP) 9pk - originally $6.99, on sale for $5.49 (had a $1 off coupon for P&G insert)
  • Airwick Mini Fresh Matic kit - reg. price $9.99, on sale for $4.99 (had $4 off coupon, printed from here)
  • 2 x Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail color - reg. price $2.79 each, on sale for $.99 each (had a $3 off 2 coupon from CVS beauty book)
  • Gain detergent 50 fl.oz - reg. price $7.49, on sale for $4.99 (generates $2ECB/limit 1 per card + I had a $1 off coupon that I received along with a sample a while back)
  • Hallmark gift box (the cutest one I've ever seen!) - reg. price $3.99, on clearance for $.39 (I wish they had more!)

Used my $3 off $15 coupon, paid with ECBs and under $1 out of pocket, received $2 ECB for Gain, $3 off ANY Life Fitness purchase (I remember being able to use it on $1.99 Life Fitness pain relief patch in the past - this is something we use, and it would be a moneymaker!), $3 off ANY Revlon cosmetics (I'm sure this would be a moneymaker too, combined with their frequent sales and manufacturer's coupons), $1 off ANY Colgate toothbrush (excludes Etra Clean), $1 off Colgate Total or MaxFresh toothpaste (I guess I'll use it along with manufacturer's coupons for this week's BOGO Colgate toothpaste deal) = at least $9 in ECB/coupons that I would use! (not sure about the toothbrush)

I'm planning to get 3 photobooks (one 4x6 and two 6x8 that are free after ECB + I have $3 off photobooks from the recent papers), more Sally Hansen nailpolish (I have a few more $3/2 coupons), Colgate toothpaste (BOGO + coupons and CRT), LifeFitness patch (moneymaker w/CRT), 10 free prints with CRT I got last week, and Brita 3-pk filters (on sale for $14.99 and gives $5ECB)

A few folks have asked me what's "bzz" and "BzzAgent", so here it goes: BzzAgent is a free online community that is focused on word of mouth (WOM) also known as "bzz". If you love trying new stuff and tell your family/friends/co-workers about it, you will probably enjoy being a BzzAgent: they have 'bzz-campaigns' that are free for you to join - they will give you a chance to try a new product or service and expect you to 'bzz'/tell people about it - good or bad - they want you to share your honest opinion. They will also reward you with points (that can be redeemed for all sorts of things) for reporting back - telling them who you 'bzz'ed, what you said and what reaction you received. Right now I'm participating in two campaigns: Teddy Graham Trail Mix and Word of Mouth Manual II. If you are interested, you can download a free pdf copy of Word of Mouth Manual here or purchase the book at Amazon. It explains a lot about how word of mouth aka 'bzz' works and you might find it fun and interesting to read.
If you wanna be part of the hive, you can become BzzAgent here.

Paid with ECBs and under $2 out of pocket; got .99 ECB for CVS liners, 1 ECB for Pringles, 2 ECB for Dawn, 3 ECB for Sure deodorant + a CRT for 10 free digital prints (along with a few other coupons that I will not use) = Extra $6.99 to spend + 10 free prints :)
Wanted to get Honey Bunches of Oats cereal (on BOGO sale, $4.29; there are $2 printable coupons for it here, here and here), but our store didn't have any. I forgot to take a raincheck too :(
Decided not to do the Olay deal (buy $20, get 10 ECB) even though there are plenty of coupons for it: there's nothing I really need. Same goes for Covergirl, Rimmel and Febreeze deals this week. I'm trying not to buy stuff 'just because it generates ECBs' :)

CVS deals alert (7/13-7/19)

Sally Hansen Nail polish will be on sale for $.99. There's a coupon for it in a CVS Beauty Book (available at some stores) and also printable coupon for $3 off 2 Sally Hansen nail color items here, so you can get 3 bottles of nail polish free with the coupon!
Another great deal is Kodak photo book that will be free after ECB. There was a manufacturer's coupon for $3 off Kodak photo book in recent Sunday papers (2 weeks ago?) and some CVS stores also have $3 CVS coupons for these as well. If you have any of the coupons, this is a money maker!
(seen at I heart CVS)

Free blood glucose monitring system

This is a freebie from a diabetes care magazine I found at a CVS store.

If you know someone with diabetes, you can get a free FreeStyle Lite blood glucose monitor (comes with 10 test strips) at
They even give you a choice: you can either order a small monitor or an easy-to-read large one.
If the link doesn't work when you click on it, you may want to copy and paste it in your browser, or you may need to type it in - I think they are trying to prevent hot-linking from freebie boards and make sure that only people who need the monitors would get them.

Happy 4th of July from Limoges!

I can't resist the Limoges 4th of July sale: they have a lot of nice items on clearance, which with free shipping and extra 10% off make a very good deal. I think I'll order the 'grab bag' with 4 rings (valued at $100!) for $19.99 -$2 coupon = $17.99 - can't beat that. That would work well for us: my sister and cousins wear the same size as me, so even though I can't see what I'm ordering I'm sure the rings will be good for someone... or we'll just send them back - Limoges have 100% money back gurantee - no questions asked!

I will also order these earrings (SKU# : 13247 ) for a friend. They were $39.99 and are now $4.99 (just $4.49 after coupon!)
The sale is 4 days only, so hurry before all the good stuff is sold out. Remember to use JULYTEN promotion code at checkout!
Expires 7/8/08

Bzz: Teddy Grahams Trail Mix

Did you know that 4,000,000,000 Teddy Grahams were eaten in the US in 2007?

Me neither - until I read the BzzGuide for the new Teddy Grahams Trail Mix that I received from BzzAgent yesterday. Now I am not surprised: the entire box of Teddy Grahams Bears and Cheese found by our daughters disappeared in matter of minutes :)

Mind you, our little ones are quite picky and it's a rare occasion that they both liked something (new!) and were sharing it nicely (and quietly for a change!). The mix contains Teddy Grahams honey graham snacks, pretzels, raisins and Cheese Nips crackers and has no cholesterol and saturated fat, but I think it was the package that attracted them in the first place. It also had little "awards" on the back, so the girls were determined to finish the box, to get them. We all got to taste it and agree that although it was a product designed with kids in mind, it's actually a very good mix for healthy snacking - regardless of your age.

Our 7-year old announced that we "DEFINITELY need to buy more" of it, so now I'll have to remember to look for it in the stores. Anyone seen it on sale?

MomConnection - give something back

I already mentioned that I do a lot of surveys for companies that pay for your honest opinion, but I wanted to tell you about another panel that I've been a member of for almost three years. It's called MomConnection and it does NOT pay you to speak your mind, but gives money they make on these surveys to the charity of your choice. Available choices are:

The What to Expect Foundation is dedicated to giving low-income parents educational materials and support so that they can expect a healthy pregnancy, a safe delivery, and a happy baby.

The National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that uses public education and advocacy to promote fairness in the workplace, quality health care, and policies that help women and men meet the dual responsibilities of work and family.

Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. (RIF) motivates children to read by working with them, their parents, and community members to make reading a fun and beneficial part of everyday life. RIF's highest priority is reaching under served children from birth to age 8.

The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Their surveys are usually short (a couple of questions each) and only take a minute or two of your time, and the money goes to the good cause. The participation is totally free and voluntary. Once in a while they have 'special survey opportunities' that may require in-home product testing (we've tested Clorox Anywhere spray for them a while back - for free, and also got coupons for free products from the manufacturer).

Even though technically it's not a deal or an earning opportunity, I thought I'd share. It's an easy way to contribute to your favorite charity (without money coming out of your pocket) and make your voice heard at the same time.

CVS: Kleenex, Kashi Cereal, CVS towelettes

I went to CVS tonight, hoping to get the 'hidden' deals: buy 2 Coppertone products get $10ECBs ($1.99 lip balm and $4.99 sticks are said to work towards this promo) and CVS towelettes that generate $2.99ECB instead of $1 that's in July's monthly flyer, and also check if Physician's Formula mascara (which is free after ECB this week) is re-stocked. I was unable to find any Coppertone - all of it (but 1 tube) was wiped out, there was no sign of mascara and I got the lonely pack of the towelettes that was $3.49 instead of $2.99 but did generate $2.99ECB, so it's all good. Also, the quarterly ECBs are printing out today, so I got the whopping... $1 for my spring CVS shopping :)

Here's what I got:

  • Kleenex tissues 200 ct. x 6 (Buy One Get One Free sale)
  • Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal (on sale - 2 for $5)
  • CVS exfoliating cleansing towelettes (15 ct)

Coupons used:
- $1 off Kleenex (from the past papers - Buy 5, get $1 off)
- $2 off Kashi Cereal (from VocalPoint home mailer, but there's also a printable here - Thanks, Ronell!)
- $2 off CVS brand skincare (printable)

Paid with ECBs +$.08 out of pocket. ECBs received: $1 (2% of quarterly spendings) + $2.99 (for CVS towelettes) = $3.99 ECBs :)
