I am so excited! I won a $5 CVS gift card @CouponCravings $5 Charity Challenge from last week! Erin is hosting a new challenge this week for $5 Walgreens gift card.
"The rules are the same as last week. Just leave me a comment by Friday at 8 p.m. ET with a little bit on how you’d use a $5 gift card from Rite Aid, Wal-Mart, Walgreens or CVS to benefit your community (e.g., toiletries for the homeless shelter, canned goods for the food pantry, etc.)."
Part of the deal is "If you’re the winner, just take a photo of what you bought using the $5 gift card and either send me a link to the blog post you write about the charitable donation", but as I explained in my comment, I wouldn't rush to spend this gift card right away: I would wait until school supplies go on clearance (our CVS clearances them to 75% or even 90% off) and combined with manufacturers' and CVS store coupons, this $5 gift card can go a long way! I am planning on getting school supplies for Victoria's school: she goes to a public school and teachers often run out of pencils, pens, crayons and paper mid-year and ask for donations or spend their own money to buy stuff at regular prices. We try to stock up on great back-to-school sales at Staples and Office Depot (they offer freebies or penny items every week until school starts) and then on clearances at Target and CVS. We're making gift baskets filled with supplies and presenting them to Victoria's teachers 3 times a year: "Back-to-School" basket, then one around Christmas time, and another one in spring, when our school has teachers' appreciation week.
I will be sure to post pictures of what Erin's $5 gift card would buy, but that will probably happen towards the end of September or even in October - depending on our CVS store markdown schedule.
Thanks, Erin!
